Christmas and New Years Greetings from the Leader of the Official Opposition Heather Stefanson
The most wonderful time of the year is here. A time to cherish the moments spent with loved ones, appreciate the blessings that surround us, and reflect on the meaning of Christmas.
Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, Christians in Manitoba and around the world rejoice in the profound message of hope and redemption that Christmas brings, and are united in gratitude for the gift of God’s love. Those who follow Christ know that the Christmas season encapsulates his teachings of kindness, peace, and love.
Christmas is also celebrated by many Manitobans of different backgrounds, joining millions of people around the world in adorning communities with colourful lights and decorations, spending time with family, enjoying home-cooked meals, listening to joyous music and watching our favourite holiday classics, and so many wonderful festivities that bring us together.
Most of all, Christmas reminds us about the joy of giving. From exchanging gifts and donating to charity, to random acts of kindness, giving is a hallmark of the season inspired by the compassion that Christ has shown humankind. As Manitobans are known for our generosity, let us support and uplift one another, especially those facing challenges during this time, and offer a lending hand to those less fortunate during and beyond the holidays.
I’d also like to thank those on the front lines—emergency responders, healthcare workers, military personnel, essential service providers, and many more—who have to spend this time away from family or on-call so that their fellow Manitobans can enjoy the holidays.
As we look to the future, may the coming year bring prosperity, good health, and happiness to every corner of our beautiful province.
On behalf of our PC Caucus and our families, we wish all Manitobans a very merry Christmas, a safe and happy holiday, and the very best in the new year.
