Manitoba PCs Select Wayne Ewasko as Interim Leader

WINNIPEG — The Manitoba PC Caucus has selected Lac du Bonnet MLA Wayne Ewasko as interim Leader of the Official Opposition, who will serve the role until a party leadership contest is held later this year.

“I’m thankful for the trust and confidence of my colleagues as we work together to hold Wab Kinew and his NDP government accountable,” said Ewasko. “I want to thank Heather Stefanson for her service as leader of our party and premier of Manitoba over the past several years. I look forward to continuing to work with our entire team of new and returning MLAs as we move forward with our party’s leadership contest and help guide a positive path and vision for the long term.”

The Manitoba Legislature is currently scheduled to return for the spring legislative session starting on March 6, 2024.

“In the coming days and weeks, I will be meeting with caucus members to discuss their critic portfolios as we look forward to returning to the Legislature,” said Ewasko. “We have an excellent team of MLAs ready to work on behalf of their constituents and all Manitobans to ensure their voices are heard by Wab Kinew and his NDP government.”

“In the spring legislative session, Progressive Conservatives will continue to serve as an effective opposition by putting the priorities of all Manitobans first.”
