Wab Kinew Uses Health Card Designs to Distract Manitobans from NDP Healthcare Failures
WINNIPEG — Manitoba PCs are calling on Wab Kinew to drop his social media charade, get on with delivering plastic health cards to Manitobans, and start focusing on the healthcare issues that really matter to patients, Roblin MLA Kathleen Cook, PC Critic for Health, said today.
“We know Manitobans want modern health cards, but the premier is wasting time on social media trying to distract from the multiple healthcare failures of his government,” said Cook. “He should be focused on the fact that wait times have increased under his watch, rural emergency rooms are closing, and that he still has not produced a credible plan to staff up and retain workers in our healthcare system.”
Plastic health cards have been in development for a number of years in Manitoba. The NDP government has not announced a date for their rollout or when Manitobans can expect a full transition to electronic medical records.
“Wab Kinew has plenty of government resources at his disposal to properly consult with Manitobans, but all he really wants is to increase his Instagram following as he positions himself for federal NDP leadership,” said Riding Mountain MLA Greg Nesbitt. “I shouldn’t have to be hearing from seniors in my constituency who are upset about how this whole process is being handled.”
“It’s disrespectful to many Manitobans who can’t access social media, and distracting Manitobans from the more pressing challenges in our healthcare system that demand urgent attention.”
