MLA Len Isleifson Passes the Drivers and Vehicles Amendment Act (Poppy Number Plates)

Winnipeg, MB – Brandon East MLA Len Isleifson is proud to have passed the Drivers and Vehicles Amendment Act, which expands the eligible veterans who can get veteran poppy license plates to include active members of the Canadian Forces who have: honourably served for at least one year; been honourably discharged; or are a former member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Force who voluntarily resigned in good standing from the force.

“Our veterans protect us every day, and we need to ensure that we’re recognizing as many of them as possible,” said Isleifson. “Poppy plates are one way that veterans can show their patriotism and service after they honourably served our great nation, and this bill makes it more inclusive to those who were in the force.”

“As members of the Royal Canadian Legion, our mission is to serve Veterans, including serving military and retired RCMP members and their families, said Linda Walker, 2nd Vice President of the Royal Canadian Legion Brandon Branch #3. “We are encouraged by the presentation of this bill and with its passage would ensure that retired RCMP members may be able to proudly display the veterans’ plate on their vehicles.
