Manitoba PCs Shuffle Shadow Cabinet

WINNIPEG — Today, Leader of the Official Opposition Wayne Ewasko announced changes to the critic portfolios of the Manitoba PC Caucus as the spring legislative session gets underway.

  • Doyle Piwniuk, MLA for Turtle Mountain, will take on responsibility for Manitoba Public Insurance and Efficiency Manitoba, on top of his duties as Caucus Whip;
  • Bob Lagassé, MLA for Dawson Trail, will add Sport, Culture, Heritage and Tourism to his existing responsibility for Francophone Affairs;
  • Obby Khan, MLA for Fort Whyte, will add Manitoba Hydro and the Public Utilities Board to his existing responsibilities for Finance and the Manitoba Public Service;
  • Carrie Hiebert, MLA for Morden-Winkler, will add Mental Health to her existing responsibilities for Housing, Addictions and Homelessness;
  • Grant Jackson, MLA for Spruce Woods, will assume responsibility for the Education and Early Childhood Learning portfolio; and
  • Konrad Narth, MLA for La Vérendrye, will add Transportation and Infrastructure to his existing responsibility for the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation.

“With the wisdom of our veteran MLAs and the energy of our newly-elected members, we have a strong team bringing new ideas to the table, challenging Wab Kinew’s tax-and-spend ideology, and being a voice in the legislature for all Manitobans,” said Ewasko. “Despite having seven years to develop a plan, Wab Kinew’s NDP have yet to show Manitobans that they have any idea on how they’ll deliver and pay for their $3-billion election promises.”
