PC Caucus Heads to Dauphin to Hear from Parkland Families, Industries, Communities
DAUPHIN — Manitoba’s Progressive Conservative Caucus is heading out to the constituency of Dauphin this week to engage local residents, community leaders, and businesses from across the region on the issues that matter most to them.
“The Parkland plays a key role in Manitoba’s growth and economic success,” said Obby Khan, Leader of the Official Opposition. “But it’s not enough to just say that. We have to make sure that local communities actually see themselves as partners in Manitoba’s prosperity, and that no one is getting left behind.”
“Dauphin families have been hit from all angles over the past few months—a shuttered hospital, devastating flooding, tariffs, and so on. Our Progressive Conservative team wants to show these families that we are here for them every step of the way.”
The PC Caucus will be hosting a three-hour public reception on Thursday, Sept. 10, inviting local residents and families to come discuss the challenges that they are facing and identify opportunities. PC MLAs will also be meeting with a slate of regional stakeholders, including local businesses, municipal officials, agricultural producers, and community advocates.
Khan will be joined by a majority of PC Caucus, including Parkland-region MLAs Jodie Byram (Agassiz), Greg Nesbitt (Riding Mountain), and Rick Wowchuk (Swan River).
“The constituencies of Dauphin and Swan River have always been interconnected,” said Wowchuk. “When one prospers, we both prosper. And if recent events have shown us anything, it’s that we are there for each other in our times of need.”
“Families and farmers on both sides have been dealing with the financial, structural, and emotional toll of flooding this summer. Our caucus will be there to support their needs and help build the road ahead.”
“I’m looking forward to having our Progressive Conservative colleagues over to our beautiful region,” said Nesbitt. “We have strong industries like agriculture and manufacturing, as well as one-of-a-kind tourist and recreational experiences. With the right investments and strategic infrastructure, Manitoba can unlock a new era of opportunities here and across Westman. PCs are taking that step today by engaging residents, municipalities, and small businesses on the ground.”
“All Manitobans want to live and raise their families in an affordable, safe, healthy, and prosperous community—but each corner of the province has its own unique needs and challenges to overcome,” said Byram, who is the PC Critic for Families and Accessibility. “I’ve heard from municipalities and First Nations who want to see stronger community-level funding. I’ve heard from several locals in the disability community about the hardships they’ve faced due to the Dauphin hospital closure.”
“Our goal for this trip is to find practical solutions to these kinds of challenges together with the community.”
