PCs Congratulate Julijette on Opening ‘Hollywood of the North’ State-of-the-Art Film Studio in Niverville

NIVERVILLE — PCs joined industry and local leaders Friday to officially cut the ribbon on Julijette Inc.’s state-of-the-art, full-service film and television studio campus in Niverville.

“When we talk about growing Manitoba as a filmmaking and creative hub, rural communities play a pivotal role in the equation,” said Springfield-Ritchot MLA Ron Schuler. “Among the fastest-growing communities in all of Canada, with a strong workforce, Niverville is an ideal place for this industry to plant its roots as a ‘Hollywood of the North’ and become a significant employer in the region.”

Currently in phase one, Jette Studios—located along Provincial Road 311—will boast state-of-the-art production suites, a sound stage, a leading-edge LED wall, and more.

The studio’s rural location will also allow productions to maximize tax credits that embolden Manitoba’s competitive advantage over other jurisdictions. This comes as a result of the previous PC government introducing and doubling one of North America’s most competitive tax credits for film and video productions, with an additional tax credit for rural productions.

Likewise, in 2023, the previous PC government invested over $40 million in infrastructure in and around Niverville to support Jette Studios and spur further economic growth in the area. PC investments in 2022 also enabled direct flights from Los Angeles to Winnipeg, further opening Manitoba up to the creative sector.

Over the past five years, the film and video industry has contributed over $800 million to Manitoba’s economy, with production volumes more than tripling since 2016.

“Thank you to Julijette owner Juliette Hagopian for seeing the potential in Niverville, and opening the door for hundreds of fulfilling careers and opportunities for the region,” said Wayne Ewasko, Leader of the Official Opposition. “PCs are proud to have laid the groundwork for such investments to keep our economy moving forward and ensure good jobs for Manitobans.”
